PEORIA, Ill. – Thanks to state funding backed by State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, the Peoria area is getting some new electric vehicle charging stations installed.
Illinois is investing in the EV infrastructure to help meet the growing needs of travelers. Gordon-Booth says additional charging stations are not just a convenience, but a necessity as more electric vehicles are hitting the roads across the state.
Illinois’ Environmental Protection Agency announced on Wednesday over $25 million was being awarded to bring new Direct Current Fast Charging ports to 141 locations across the state.
Funding for the EV charging stations was made possible through the Rebuild Illinois capital plan, supported by Gordon-Booth, as well as the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act.
OSF Healthcare in Peoria will receive $320,000 for two new charging stations, while additional EV stations will be installed in commercial areas of the community.
Applications are still being accepted through May 10 for another round of grants. Anyone interested can view more information about applying HERE.
