PEORIA, Ill. – The victim of a fatal single-vehicle accident in Peoria County has been identified.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office says Steven Wright, 34, of Pekin was pronounced dead at the scene. Wright suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries that were inconsistent with life and died instantly.
Toxicology results are pending, per state law.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins said the accident occurred around 6:02 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Airport Road and Tuscarora Road.
Watkins said it appears Wright was driving south on Airport Road, when his car left the roadway and hit a tree.
The accident remains under investigation.

PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – An accident in Peoria County has left one person dead, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
Peoria County deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash around 6:02 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Airport Road and Tuscarora Road and found the victim, a 34-year-old man, dead at the scene.
Sheriff Chris Watkins said it appears the passenger car was traveling south on Airport Road, went out of control and struck a tree.
The accident remains under investigation. The Peoria County Coroner will release the identity of the victim, pending notification of relatives.
