CHICAGO, Ill. – A Chicago police officer was shot and killed on his way home from work Sunday morning, yet another tragic victim of the gun violence that continues to wreak havoc on the Windy City every weekend.
Fox News reports that 30-year-old Luis Huesca was shot multiple times and his vehicle was stolen before fellow officers found him and rushed him to a hospital, where he died just two days before his 31st birthday.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson issued a statement calling Huesca’s death an “unspeakable loss” and promising his family the full support of the administration to find the perpetrator(s).
As of Sunday afternoon, eight people had been shot in Chicago over the weekend, three of them fatally.
