PEORIA, Ill. – Average gas prices in Peoria have fallen 5.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.78 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations in Peoria.
Prices in Peoria are 1.8 cents higher than a month ago and 11.5 cents lower than a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.55 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.95. The lowest price in Illinois was $2.79, while the highest priced gas was $8.77, a difference of $5.98 a gallon.
The national average gas price has gone up 4.3 cents in the last week, averaging $3.64 a gallon on Monday. The national average is up 10.8 cents from a month ago, and 1.1 cents lower than this time last year, according to GasBuddy data.
“As the nationwide changeover to summer gasoline is now behind us, at least one of the three factors that had been actively causing prices to rise in the last couple of months is behind us. However, it may take time for the largest pain point to be over: refinery maintenance. The next few weeks should see many refineries wrapping up their work and gasoline output should rise, putting downward pressure on gasoline prices soon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Meanwhile, AAA says the average price of gas in the Peoria-Pekin metro area on Monday was $3.79 a gallon, the state average was $3.92 and the national average gas price was $3.67.
