PEORIA, Ill. – An 11-year-old was arrested after shots were fired in South Peoria Monday night.
Peoria Police says officers responded to the area of John H Gwynn Junior Avenue and MacArthur Highway just before 10:15 P.M. after eight rounds were fired.
Officers spotted two males running southbound on John H Gwynn, and took the 11-year-old in custody after a brief foot chase.
Police reportedly found a handgun in the area where the 11-year-old was apprehended.
The second male was not found.
The 11-year-old was arrested for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Resisting Police.
He was taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
