PEORIA, Ill. – Showers and storms are in the forecast as the Peoria area eases into the weekend. 25 First Alert Meteorologist Chuck Collins says this will be a “boom or bust weather day.”
“If thunderstorms develop a few of them could be strong to severe,” Collins said. “Our atmosphere is like gun powder. It’s unstable, but won’t explode unless a fuse comes along.”
Collins said the main severe weather threats are low but not zero, and any storm development could lead to heavy rain as the atmosphere is warm and humid.
“The significant severe weather threat should be west of the area,” Collins said.
