PEORIA, Ill. – Two men were arrested in South Peoria early Monday morning after reportedly being found passed out with weapons.
Peoria Police responded just before 5:00 A.M. to the area of Millman and Charlton Streets on reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway of a private residence.
Officers arrived and found two adult males passed out inside the vehicle, reportedly retrieving an AR-15 rifle lying near the passenger and a handgun between the legs of the driver.
Police then woke up 30-year-old Orlando Mathews and 33-year-old Tristan Shelton and took both into custody.
Officers reportedly found a handgun on Shelton during a search of both suspects.
Mathews was arrested on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm without a valid FOID card, Criminal Trespass, Resisting Police, and an Active Warrant.
Shelton was arrested on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm without a valid FOID card, and Criminal Trespass.
Both were taken to the Peoria County Jail.
