PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – The cause of death of a Peoria woman who was found in a river last Friday afternoon has been revealed, but questions around her death remain.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says an autopsy shows 37-year-old Seiarra DeLasso died of drowning. He says there were no signs of struggle, trauma, or physical harm.
She was discovered in the river by an employee of Mosiac Fertilizer in the barge loading area at around 1:45 P.M., about 20 feet from shore.
DeLasso had appeared to be in the river for more than 24 hours at the time of the discovery.
Harwood says the how and why DeLasso was in the water continues to be under investigation.
