EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The identity of the victim in Friday morning’s fatal crash on Interstate 74 in East Peoria is now known.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says 32-year-old Lauren Martin of Normal was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash just after 9:20 A.M.
The crash occurred just before 8:45 A.M. near the Pinecrest exit when Martin’s westbound vehicle crossed over the median for unknown reasons into the eastbound lanes, and crashed into a semi-truck.
Hanley says preliminary findings from an autopsy conducted Monday shows multiple blunt force injuries as the cause of Martin’s death.
The crash remains under investigation by Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
