PEORIA, Ill. – A Bartonville man will spend more than two months in the Peoria County Jail on animal cruelty charges.
25 News reports 42-year-old Stephen Kalb was sentenced to 70 days in jail Wednesday by a Peoria County judge, with credit for three days already served.
Kalb must also serve two years of probation and cannot own or be in possession of any animals during that time.
He pleaded guilty in April to one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
Kalb and his girlfriend, Stacy Mueller, were arrested May of 2023 in Princeville after a dozen dogs were reportedly found in a hot shed with no food or water. Some of the dogs were malnourished.
Mueller pleaded guilty in December to one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
