PEORIA, Ill. – Two teenagers will remain in custody at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center on an Armed Robbery charge after a detention hearing Thursday.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says the 14 and 15 year old were each charged with that after allegedly robbing a central Peoria McDonald’s Wednesday before 10:00 A.M.
Prosecutors say witnesses reported the pair entered the business, with one allegedly ordering the manager to empty the register into his book bag while the other stood by pointing a shotgun at the manager.
When the manager ushered staff to safety, one of the teens reportedly grabbed a register drawer containing $215 and fled.
The gun, register, and cash were recovered after the pair were arrested.
The state’s attorney’s office says one of the teens admitted they robbed the business and discarded the shotgun.
