PEORIA, Ill. – The other driver involved in a crash that killed a Dunlap High School student in May has been formally charged.
Court documents list 25-year-old Levi Dietz is charged with driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
The crash occurred on May 4th just before 11:45 P.M. near the Louisville Slugger complex on Orange Prairie Road. The crash killed 18-year-old Neveah Mitchell of Princeville.
Police say Dietz’s vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, when his and Mitchell’s vehicles crashed head-on.
Peoria Police stated about a month after the crash that lighting, speed, nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
Dietz was released from a hospital on May 14th.
His next hearing is scheduled for October 1st. 25 News reports Dietz is being sued by the Mitchell family.
