PEORIA, Ill. – A man has taken a plea deal from prosecutors in connection to the shooting death of an 18-year-old Peoria apartment complex last year.
The Peoria County Circuit Clerk’s Office says 26-year-old Torreon Carey pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated battery.
He was arrested in February of this year in connection to the shooting death of 18-year-old Davion Parker near the Lexington Hills Apartments in February of 2023.
As part of the plea deal, charges of First Degree Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon against Carey were dropped.
Carey was sentenced to more than 17 and a half years in prison, and must serve 15 years.
22-year-old Donte Agnew was the other man arrested in connection to Parker’s death, and his trial is still pending.
