PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday night in the 4400 block of W. Andover Drive.
Fire Battalion Chief Tom Sander said crews arrived just after 9 p.m., finding flames coming from the roof and the back of the home. They had the fire under control within about 15 minutes.
The fire was isolated to the back of the home and the attic. Smoke and water damage was found throughout it.
A fire investigator determined the blaze began on a back deck, spreading inside the home.
The fire was deemed accidental, caused by discarded smoking materials.
Four people were displaced, including a child. The Red Cross was called in to assist with temporary housing.
Damage was estimated at $100,000.
