PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to a residential fire Sunday evening on N. Sheridan Road.
Fire Battalion Chief Mike Ralston says crews arrived on-scene just after 6 p.m., finding smoke coming from multiple areas of the home, and fire at the back of it.
Crews put the fire out quickly, and prevented it from spreading to the second story and the roof.
Two adults and three children were inside the home when the fire began, but they got out safely before firefighters arrived.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, with crews remaining on scene for two hours checking for hidden fire and hotspots.
A fire investigator and arson dog were brought to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The cause is still under investigation. The Red Cross is providing temporary housing for the family.
No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $60,000.00.
