EAST PEORIA, Ill. – East Peoria firefighters responded to reports of a garage fire on Kentucky Court Thursday afternoon.
Assistant Fire Chief Ronnie Marmitt says they arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m., finding flames at the back of a detached garage.
Firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control, preventing it from spreading any further.
Marmitt says a cat was rescued from the burning garage, and was uninjured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage was estimated at $2,500.
