PEORIA, Ill. – A Hanna City man has pleaded guilty to his role in a fatal crash two years ago near the Shoppes of Grand Prairie.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 45-year-old Jeremy Perry pleaded guilty Thursday to Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, a Class Two felony, and Aggravated DUI, a Class Four felony.
The crash occurred the morning of January 15th, 2023, when prosecutors say Perry ran a red light at the intersection of Route 150 and Koerner Road, and caused a three-vehicle crash.
The crash killed 43-year-old Miriam Schmid and left her son with a traumatic brain injury and a lacerated spleen.
Prosecutors say a blood test at the hospital revealed Perry had THC and methamphetamine in his system.
Perry is scheduled to be sentenced on June 25th.
