PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria’s gas prices have dropped 1.7 cents in the last week, averaging $3.17 a gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 gas stations in Peoria.
Prices in Peoria are 7.1 cents higher than a month ago and 4.7 cents higher than this time last year.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $2.89, while the most expensive gas was $3.59. The lowest price in the state was $2.67 and the highest price was $4.79.
GasBuddy’s national average price of unleaded gas is unchanged from last week, averaging $3.03 on Monday. That’s down 2.0 cents from last month and 2.5 cents higher than a year ago.
“Ahead of the peak of Thanksgiving travel, the national average has remained relatively steady, holding close to where it’s been for the last few weeks,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“With refinery maintenance wrapping up, we’re likely to see more relief soon, particularly in the Great Lakes and West Coast regions. While Washington and Oregon may still see issues related to the Olympic pipeline shutdown, the broader outlook is promising— especially with oil prices dipping below $60 per barrel. Many states could begin to see further declines in the weeks ahead, just in time for the holidays,” De Haan said.
Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area on Monday was $3.16, the state average price was $3.24, and the national average price of gas was $3.06.
