TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. – A Tazewell County man who was reported missing last weekend has been found dead near Hopedale.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley said the Coroner’s Office responded Thursday afternoon to an area along Shiloh Road in rural Hopedale for a deceased individual.
The man was identified as 59-year-old Eric Burlingame, of rural Hopedale, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities suspect no foul play in the death. Burlingame’s body was discovered in an area that had been covered with large snow drifts from the recent snowfall. He had been reported missing on Sunday, December 14.
Coroner Hanley says an autopsy is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
The case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
