DEER CREEK, Ill. – A Tazewell County village is receiving an economic boost from the state.
Governor J-B Pritzker announced on Tuesday that Deer Creek is getting $1 million in funding through the Community Development Block Grant program.
The funding is planned for supporting an expansion to operations at Heartland Food Solutions LLC, which employs 40 people within Deer Creek.
““Investments like these don’t just sustain local economies and create new jobs for Illinoisans, they transform communities, promote continued growth, and raise the quality of life for working families in our state,” Pritzker said, in a statement announcing the grant.
The expansion will let Heartland purchase equipment for popcorn production after acquiring an existing company.
