PEORIA, Ill. – Fireworks appear to be the cause of a fire early New Year’s Day in Peoria.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin says crews responded to a home in the 2300 block of W. Antoinette Street around 12:24 a.m., finding it filled with smoke.
A small fire was discovered in the exterior wall of the home. It was put out within five minutes. The home was ventilated to remove the smoke.
A fire investigator at the scene determined the cause of the fire as unintentional. Damage is estimated at $15,000.
No injuries were reported.
