PEORIA, Ill. – An electrical fire displaced six residents of a Peoria home Saturday night.
Fire Battalion Chief Stephen Rada said crews were called to a home in the 5900 block of N. Frostwood Parkway, near W. Castleton Road, just after 6:30 p.m., finding smoke and fire coming from the attic.
Firefighters breached the ceiling below and put the fire out.
A resident smelled smoke and opened the attic, noticing the fire. He got out before crews arrived, and was uninjured.
An investigator at the scene determined the cause of the fire was accidental. Due to the amount of damage, the residents were displaced until repairs could be completed.
Damage is estimated at $20,000.
