PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County judge has ordered a Galesburg man to remain in jail in connection to a home invasion in the East Bluff nearly two years ago.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Jamar Whiteside-Banks was arrested Thursday on a warrant for Home Invasion in connection to the March 2024 incident.
Prosecutors say police responded to a man with a gunshot wound to the arm in the area of Pennsylvania and California.
The victim told police that his friend, Rebecka Wright, was at home and knew he had $1500 on him, when two males came in after Wright answered the door.
One man pointed a gun at the victim, who tried to flee, while the second man fired his weapon at the victim and struck him in the arm.
During police interviews, Banks allegedly admitted that he and Wright planned to set up the victim and steal his money, while framing Wright as a victim.
Wright pleaded guilty to Home Invasion in July of last year and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
