PEORIA, Ill. – One person was treated for smoke inhalation after a South Peoria house fire Tuesday afternoon.
Peoria Fire says crews arrived in the area of Millman and Westmoreland just after noon, finding smoke coming from the front door of a two-story home.
A stove top in the kitchen had caught fire and extended into cabinets above the stove, which was put out by fire crews.
The house sustained smoke damage on the main level.
One adult and one child escaped the home before fire crews arrived, and two cats were rescued from the house and returned to the residents.
An investigation determined the cause was accidental. There were no injuries reported.
