PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters rescued a woman from her vehicle Thursday night after it left the road on Rt. 6, near N. Shade Tree Drive.
A passerby witnessed the vehicle leave the interstate, but was unsure where it ended up.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin says crews arrived at 8:22 p.m., finding the vehicle 15-20 feet below the interstate. The vehicle had traveled roughly 50-75 feet over a stream, and hit a concrete wall.
Crews forced the driver’s door open and removed the woman, placing her onto a spine board. She was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center by ambulance. Her condition was unknown.
