PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called Monday night to an apartment building in the area of N. Underhill and W. Russell Street.
Fire Battalion Chief Jake Durbin said around 8:38 p.m., crews found a fire on a balcony on the third floor. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and contained to the balcony.
An investigator at the scene determined the fire was caused by improperly disposed smoking materials.
Damage is estimated at $10,000. No injuries were reported.
