PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Peoria Heights Village Board has reached a compromise on parking for new development along Prospect Road.
On Tuesday night, the developer of 4425 N. Prospect, the current site of the Save-A-Lot, agreed to add public parking to the front of the property, something the board felt was important.
“We are gaining 15 on-street parking spaces on Prospect (Road), which is a huge advantage for our community,” said Village Trustee Elizabeth Khazzam.
Plans for the new development were approved on a 5-1 vote, with Trustee Nate Steinwedel the only no vote. He raised concerns about accessibility for a ladder truck in the event of a fire, due to limitations of the building’s parking situation.
The board moved forward, with the developer saying he’d continue to work on finding a compromise on parking.
