PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria International Airport is bringing a lot of momentum into 2026 after a record setting year.
The airport announced at a ceremony in the Main Terminal on Thursday morning that 812,396 passengers went through the gates in 2025. The total for the year breaks the record of 689.416 passengers set in 2019.
The airport also says it set a December record with 70,672 passengers. The mark gave the airport monthly records in 15 out of the last 17 months.
Director of Airports Gene Olson says it’s “satisfying” to break the annual passenger record.
“Before Thanksgiving, we were sort of taking bets as to what our year-end number would be, and I was hoping that we would crack 800,000,” Olson said.
Olson says a modernized terminal and working with airlines to promote the Peoria market to increase seats.
Olson says the airport is preparing for additional growth in 2026. He says Phase 1 of the Air Traffic Control Tower project is nearing completion, with Phase 2 scheduled to start in May. The airport is also expected to work on plans for a new parking facility along Dirksen Parkway.
