PEORIA, Ill. – A man wanted for a murder ten years ago in Tennessee was arrested Wednesday in Peoria.
36-year-old Terry Johnson was taken into custody by US Marshals following a lead by the Memphis Safe Task Force.
Johnson was arrested for his role in the January 9th, 2016 shooting death of 18-year-old high school student Ryan Gilliam. Gilliam was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound and later died from his injuries.
MSTF investigators learned that Johnson had relocated to Illinois and sent a lead to US Marshals this past Friday.
Johnson is charged in Shelby County in Tennessee with two counts of First Degree Murder, four counts Criminal Attempt First-Degree Murder, five counts Employ Firearm with Intent to Commit Felony, Aggravated Burglary, two counts Aggravated Assault, Domestic Assault Bodily Harm, Petition to Revoke Suspended Sentence, Termination of Diversion, and Theft of Property $500 of less.
Johnson is the second person charged in connection to Gilliam’s death. Marktavious Twilley was previously charged with murder and convicted.
