PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria is expanding with a new facility designed to make appointments faster and easier for families.
Opening next spring, the OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois Pediatric Specialty Care Center will be located at 800 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, just steps from the main hospital and connected internally.
Families will be able to see multiple specialists in one facility, including cardiology, neurology, pulmonology and urology. The designs also include on-site X-ray and lab services, cutting down on the need to travel across campus or around Peoria for care.
Hospital leaders said the goal is to streamline appointments, reduce wait times and create a more predictable experience for families.
“You’re going to know what room you’re going to, what doctor you’re seeing, and what tests that you need,” Meg Zakrzewski, President of OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, told 25 News.
Children’s Hospital of Illinois currently sees about 71,000 specialty outpatient visits each year, and that number continues to grow, OSF said.
As part of a ceremony on Tuesday, attendees created a time capsule to open after the center has been in operation for 10 years.
