PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage relative.
Twenty-one-year-old Jordan Gibson received a 13-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A Peoria County jury found him guilty of criminal sexual assault earlier this year.
Prosecutors say the incident happened in December 2024 at a family home. The victim, who was 14 at the time, later reported the assault, leading to a police investigation.
Authorities say evidence collected during a medical exam connected Gibson to the crime through DNA. Investigators also say he initially denied any contact before changing his account after being confronted with the evidence.
During sentencing, prosecutors argued for a longer prison term, pointing to the victim’s age and the circumstances surrounding the case.
