PEORIA, Ill. – Get ready to see your power bill go up. The City of Peoria and Peoria County are reminding those enrolled in the community’s energy aggregation supply program that, while electricity supply costs will increase this summer, aggregation customers are still expected to pay lower supply rates than Ameren customers.
Those enrolled in the aggregation supply program will see power bills rise from 9.3 cents to 10.7 cents per kilowatt-hour, while Ameren customers will see an increase from 11.2 cents to 13 cents per kilowatt-hour.
Officials say there’s less surplus electricity available, so it costs more to ensure enough is on hand during peak demand. Ameren suggests several ways to prepare for the increase—you can apply for financial help or payment programs at AmerenIllinois.com/options, and get energy-saving ideas online at AmerenIllinoisSavings.com.
