SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association is praising the passage of a bill allowing high school students to substitute 2 years of career and technical education for the 2-year foreign language requirement.
Senior Vice President and Corporate Board Secretary for the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association, Sarah Hartwick, says easing this requirement will help expand access to technical career pathways, connecting more students to high-demand careers in manufacturing and the skilled trades.
This is something Hartwick says is critical to the development of a skilled workforce for the future that will strengthen our state’s economy for generations to come.
