PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria woman faces a first degree murder charge following a fatal stabbing Tuesday night.
Officers responded to the 700 block of North Hightower Street around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a hang-up 911 call. Additional reports of a disturbance at the location came in as officers were on their way.
Upon arrival, officers found a 36-year-old woman at the residence with an apparent stab wound. Officers and Peoria Fire personnel immediately provided emergency medical aid.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The victim’s identity and official cause and manner of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives identified 31-year-old Keonta J. Williams as the suspect during the course of the investigation. Williams was taken into custody Wednesday and arrested for first degree murder. She was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
