PEORIA, Ill. – If you were planning on heading out to the Peoria Speedway on Monday, save the trip. The DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the Modified Nationals are officially cancelled.
Heavy rain on Sunday left parts of the track underwater, and the facility is just too soaked to run a race.
If you bought tickets in advance, you’ll see refunds hitting your account automatically over the next few days.
“This is obviously a disappointing outcome for everyone involved,” Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent said Sunday. “Unfortunately, the amount of rainfall we’ve received is far too much to conduct an event tomorrow. We appreciate the support of the fans and race teams and share in their disappointment.”
The DIRTcar Summer Nationals and Summit Modified Nationals are scheduled to resume racing on Tuesday, June 23, at Benton Speedway in Benton, MO, in the kickoff to Week 3 competition. Tickets for the event will be sold at the track on race day.
