PEORIA, Ill. — Former Bradley University President Joanne Glasser, the first woman to lead the university, has died.
Current Bradley President James Shadid announced Glasser’s passing in a message to the campus community Tuesday, remembering her as a transformational leader whose impact continues to shape the university.
Glasser served as Bradley’s 10th president from 2007 until 2015. During her tenure, she led the largest capital campaign in the university’s history and oversaw several major campus projects, including construction of the Markin Family Student Recreation Center, the Renaissance Coliseum and the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center. She also guided the expansion and modernization of Westlake Hall and supported other campus improvements aimed at enhancing the student experience.
“President Glasser devoted herself wholeheartedly to Bradley University and to the students she so deeply loved,” Shadid said in a statement. “Her leadership helped transform Bradley in lasting and meaningful ways.”
Shadid said Glasser’s legacy extends beyond the buildings and initiatives completed during her presidency, pointing to the lasting impact she had on students, faculty and the broader Bradley community.
Private family services have already been held.
Bradley University will fly its flags at half-staff for three days in Glasser’s honor.
