PEORIA, Ill. – A woman was arrested Wednesday after police say she stole an ambulance and later crashed it into a parked vehicle.
According to Peoria Police, officers were called around 2:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a stolen ambulance being driven recklessly.
Investigators say the ambulance was later found parked near Wayne Street, but the driver pulled away before officers reached the vehicle. Police say they did not pursue the ambulance because of public safety concerns.
A short time later, the ambulance struck a parked vehicle on St. Marks Court, leaving that vehicle inoperable.
Police arrested 41-year-old Crystal J. Crane at the scene without incident. She was booked into the Peoria County Jail on a charge of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
