PEORIA, Ill. – Severe weather made a quick but deep impact in the Peoria-area Thursday afternoon.
Ameren reported more than 2800 customers were without power in East Peoria as of 1:15 P.M. More than 700 customers were without power in Peoria, and around 160 in Washington.
As of Friday morning, 535 customers in Peoria County were in the dark. In Tazewell County, the number was close to 550. McLean County had more than 15,000 homes still waiting for the lights to come on.
Wind gusts of 58 MPH were reported near Morton Thursday afternoon.
National Weather Service spotters reported a tree down at Illinois Route 29 and Route 6, with Peoria County saying the roads are currently closed in the area.
A tree was reported down in Canton on Myrtle Street.
