TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. (25 News) – An East Peoria man and a Peoria woman face serious charges following a robbery and shooting at a rural Tazewell County home early Saturday.
Austin L. Hawkins, 22, is charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery by discharging a firearm. Anna L. Konakh, 23, faces an armed robbery charge, according to 25 News and online court records.
Tazewell County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. Saturday to a residence on Laurel Street near Manito after receiving a report of a shooting. Deputies found a man who had been struck by a bullet in the chest. He is reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators determined the victim had returned home with a woman he met earlier that evening. Shortly after arriving, a masked man came to the residence and shot the victim.
Peoria Police assisted Tazewell County authorities in locating and arresting Hawkins in Peoria. Both Hawkins and Konakh are currently held in the Tazewell County Jail.
