CREVE COEUR, Ill. (25 News) – Creve Coeur’s police department has new interim leadership after three officers resigned last week, including the chief and deputy chief.
Chief Justin Egan, Deputy Chief Dan Nelson, and Officer Dustin Ward resigned Friday.
Mayor Fred Lang said the three submitted their resignations voluntarily. but he did not explain the reasons for their departures.
Lang said the village’s focus now is ensuring the department is properly staffed and residents remain safe.
“I can assure they’re going to be safe and nothing to worry about, and we will take care of any needs that are on hold when it comes to calls,” Lang said. “They’ll be handled promptly and, as I say, with the mutual aid from Marquette Heights, I’m sure county and state police will be willing to help out. Nothing to worry about.”
Former Creve Coeur Police Chief Dale King is now serving as interim chief.
Lang did not have a time frame for replacing the missing staffers.
The village board is expected to hear from King Wednesday at 5 p.m. about his plans for the department.
