PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man will spend 22 years in prison for shooting a delivery driver at a Dollar General store nearly three years ago.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 32-year-old Shiloe Beasley was sentenced on Wednesday for his June conviction for Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Beasley was not in the courtroom during the June bench trial.
The victim was making a delivery to the store on December 18th, 2023, when Beasley entered the store and demanded money from the manager after showing a firearm.
The victim was shot after he raised his hands and stated he did not work for the store.
Prosecutors argued for a lengthy sentence because the shooting occurred in a public place, and the victim was an innocent bystander doing his job.
