PEORIA, Ill. – OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center has received national recognition from the American Heart Association for its stroke care.
The Peoria hospital received the association’s Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award. The recognition is given to hospitals that demonstrate adherence to research-based guidelines for treating stroke patients.
The Get With The Guidelines program is designed to help hospitals provide consistent treatment aimed at improving recovery, reducing long-term effects of strokes and preventing deaths.
OSF Saint Francis President Mike Wells says the program helps hospital staff put the latest treatment guidelines into practice.
The hospital also received the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll, which recognizes hospitals meeting standards for quickly providing eligible patients with clot-dissolving treatment.
OSF Saint Francis also earned the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll for its care of stroke patients with Type 2 diabetes.
