PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Park District is ready to get you spooked, at least a little bit, with “Lakeview Park After Dark” beginning Thursday night.
The Park District’s Emily Cahill tells WMBD News it’s one of her favorite events. “Lakeview Park After Dark” got started during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we all had to keep our distance.
Through Saturday night, families can load up the car and drive through Lakeview Park to see a number of spooky and fun Halloween displays.
“You drive your car through, we have different animatronics…we have actors from Peoria Players, we have volunteers, a number of who are from our staff dressed up. And, it’s just a really fun, not so scary experience that’s very family friendly,” Cahill says.
This is the fourth year for “Lakeview Park After Dark”. Admission is $20 per car.
Cahill says the line to get into the park can be a little long, but it’s worth the wait.
“We ask people to be a little bit patient, it’s a lot like that Festival of Lights experience. You’re going to wait a minute, but once you get in, the full experience takes about 20 minutes or so to get through, and it’s just action-packed and so much fun,” Cahill says.
The first tours start at 6:30, and the last cars are expected to go through around 9 p.m. Trick or Treats will be available for the first 1,000 kids and Halloween-themed refreshments will also be available during the tours.
