PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Rivermen made history in two different areas Saturday night when they defeated the Macon Mayhem 3-0.
The win against the Mayhem put the Rivermen’s record at 5-0. It’s the first time in the franchise’s 38-year history that they have went undefeated through the first five games of a season.
Jean-Guy Trudel, coach of the Rivermen, also made history with the win on Saturday night. Trudel became the winningest coach in team history with his 234th victory. Trudel passed Jason Christie on the all-time wins list with the win, and his overall record is now 234-85-41.
Following the game, Trudel was brought onto center ice where he addressed the crowd, thanking them for their support with the Rivermen players huddled around their coach.
