SPRINGFIELD — Despite the Presidents’ calls for all kids to return to the classroom in the fall, Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker says it will be up to the individual school districts in Illinois on how to proceed.
According to the governor, schools can formulate their own plans.
“Classroom learning provides necessary opportunities for our students to learn, socialize and grow, and the benefits of in-person instruction can’t be overstated. School administrators will dictate how lessons are handled, and keeping students and staff safe, will be a top priority,” said Pritzker.
The State Board of Education has released guidelines for schools to follow during the pandemic, but it will be up to the districts to implement their own plans based on specific needs.
Peoria Public Schools are giving families the option for hybrid learning or virtual-only learning, while Morton School District Superintendent Jeff Hill has said he fully intends on having in-person learning this fall.
