PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties each suffered COVID-related deaths over the weekend that contributed to Monday’s Peoria City/County Health Department report.
Tazewell saw a man and woman, both in their 80s, succumb to the virus.
In Peoria County, a woman in her 20s who had underlying conditions passed away, as did a man in his 60s, a woman in her 70s, and one in her 80s.
A Woodford County woman in her 60s died, and so did a man in his 80s, and a man and woman who were both in their 90s.
While the death count was high, the new positive case count for the entire weekend was noticeably low, with only 57 new cases throughout the tri-county.
27 of the new cases are Peoria residents, 23 live in Tazewell, and the other seven reside in Woodford.
Hospitalization numbers jumped from Friday’s 56 to Monday’s 65. 14 of the 65 were intensive care-level.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity was at 2.9%, while ICU bed availability remained at 22%, the same as Friday’s number, and the number of patients hospitalized, overall, decreased over the weekend by 14.
