PEORIA, Ill. — OSF HealthCare is sharing results of its 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment for Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford Counties.
The assessment is required every three years by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for all tax-exempt hospitals.
The assessment from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center evaluates the area’s overall health, and creates an opportunity to improve it.
OSF HealthCare says over 1,600 surveys were collected this year, from individuals including those most at-risk for health issues due to limited financial means.
Findings from this year’s assessment highlight areas of most concern: mental health, obesity, healthy eating and active living.
The Community Health Needs Assessment is part of an ongoing collaborative effort by local community partners who make up the Partnership for a Healthy Community.
The partnership is developing a three-year implementation strategy for the Tri-County region to improve health and well-being by empowering people with information, knowledge, and accessibility.
“The community health needs assessment is a valuable process OSF takes part in every three years,” said Robert Anderson, CEO of OSF HealthCare – Central Region. “With the information it provides, we continue to collaborate with individuals and other organizations to transform health care by eliminating barriers, increasing access and delivering the right care at the right time and place in the right manner to achieve a healthier community.”
Since its last Community Health Needs Assessment in 2019, the Partnership for a Healthy Community has worked to improve healthy eating, active living, mental health, substance abuse and cancer in the Tri-County area.
