PEORIA, Ill. — It seems to suggest major change is ongoing within the American body politic.
A woman who once ran for President as a Democrat and then later supported a Democratic-socialist candidate for the White House, is now slated to show up in support of a top Illinois Republican candidate for Governor.
Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is scheduled to highlight a campaign event for Republican gubernatorial contender Darren Bailey next week.
Gabbard will appear with Bailey on Monday during the event in Glenn Ellyn, Illinois.
In a release issued Friday, the Bailey campaign noted the event is a “rally to reform Springfield and Restore Illinois”
Gabbard’s political profile was raised significantly in 2016, when she dropped her White House bid and endorsed then-Democratic socialist candidate Bernie Sanders.
In more recent weeks, Gabbard has made headlines for announcing her departure from the Democratic party, considering it too extreme.
While making the announcement during her podcast, Gabbard described the party by saying, “It’s now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers, driven by cowardly wokeness…”
Here in Illinois, Bailey is also campaigning with an earlier endorsement from former Republican President Donald Trump.
