MORTON, Ill. — A historic marching season ends on a high note.
The Morton High School Marching Band wrapped up their season at the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis over the weekend with a 2nd place finish in Class AA, their highest ranking ever at the national competition.
Morton performed twice at Lucas Oil Stadium, once in the preliminaries on Thursday, and again on Saturday, after being selected as one of 34 bands to make it to the semifinals.
Morton’s second-place ranking in Class AA was a first for the school after finishing fourth at nationals last year and third in 2018.
Morton finished 19th overall in Indianapolis, another milestone.
The Morton band ended their unprecedented 2022 marching season by going undefeated in four state competitions which included Washington, Lincoln-Way, Belleville and the title of ‘Grand Champion’ at the Illinois State Marching Band Championships in October, another first for the program.
