PEORIA, Ill. – The group that wants to add a pavilion to Donovan Park in North Peoria is trying again to make their proposal a reality with the Park District.
Peoria Park District Executive Director Emily Cahill says in a news release the park board has agreed to hear a status report on the proposed project by the group “PAV in the Park” at the board’s meeting Wednesday.
After that, Cahill says the park district will gather public input, then make a vote in December on whether the proposal should receive future consideration.
“The Peoria Park District relies upon collaboration and our process is designed to openly facilitate debate about opportunity when it is presented,” said Emily Cahill, Executive Director of Peoria Park District, in a news release. “We look forward to facilitating an open, transparent process as our Board decides if this partnership makes sense for the landscape of Donovan Park.”
When the group first presented to the park board last year, some residents said they didn’t want green space eaten up that’s used for walking and trails, along with noise and light pollution.
The proposed pavilion would take up about 18 acres.
